In Albuquerque, the International Balloon Fiesta in October is the largest ballooning event in the world, with over 500 balloons. But the season starts in June, when the weather is right for dawn launches over the Rio Grande Valley. The sight of 500 balloons rising simultaneously over the desert at sunrise is one of the most beautiful things you will ever see, and the fact that it happens in New Mexico, a state most Americans cannot find on a map, is an ongoing injustice.
