Thingyan Aka Nei
The second day of Thingyan, called Aka Nei, when the water fighting begins in earnest. Streets across Myanmar are lined with water stages called pandals, and water is pumped from hoses, buckets, and water guns. The tradition is to wear your worst clothes because they will be soaked. The water fighting is not optional: if you go outside during Thingyan, you will get wet. The pandals feature live music, dancing, and traditional Thingyan songs that have been sung for generations.
