Palme Day

Palm wine, tapped fresh from the raffia palm, served in a calabash or a cup, foaming and sweet. The mbuh, as it is called in the Grassfields, connects you to the village, to the tapper who climbed the tree at dawn, and to every celebration that ever mattered. Palm wine does not travel well and that is exactly the point. You drink it where it was made.
