La Navidad liberiana es un día de iglesia, un día de familia y un día de comida. El servicio religioso es a la medianoche del 24, y los cantos son en inglés y en los idiomas locales. La comida navideña incluye arroz jollof, pollo frito, hojas de yuca, hojas de papa y pastel de batata. Los niños reciben regalos, generalmente ropa y zapatos, y los adultos intercambian visitas. La Navidad no se trata de regalos. Se trata de presencia, y la tradición es visitar a cada pariente que tienes el Día de Navidad. National holiday. Catholic families attend morning mass, Muslim families visit neighbors, and everyone eats. The riz gras is extra rich, the chicken is extra big, and the children are extra happy. Burkina celebrates together regardless of faith because a holiday is a holiday and food is food.

The Maltese Christmas is a religious and family celebration. The church service is at midnight on the 24th, and the singing is in Maltese. The Christmas meal includes turkey (or rabbit, for the traditionalists), timpana (baked pasta pie), and the Maltese Christmas cake (a fruit cake with walnuts, almonds, and raisins). The children receive gifts from Father Christmas, and the tradition is to set up a presepju (nativity scene) in every home. The presepju is a Maltese tradition, and the scenes can be elaborate: they include the holy family, the shepherds, the animals, and the Maltese landscape (the ruins of a Roman temple, a windmill, and a Maltese farmhouse). The Maltese presepju is one of the finest nativity traditions in the world, and the island has a thriving community of presepju-makers who spend months building elaborate scenes.
