Youm al-Jamahiriya

Under Gaddafi's 42-year rule, this date in 1970 marked the proclamation of the "People's Authority" and the launch of the Green Book ideology. After 2011, the holiday was abolished, but older Libyans still recall the mass rallies in Green Square (now Martyrs' Square), the green flags, and the speeches that lasted for hours. The Green Book, Gaddafi's political manifesto, divided power into "people's committees" and rejected representative democracy, political parties, and a free press. The memory is complicated: some recall the free education and healthcare, others remember the absence of freedom.

Día de los Animales de Georgia del Sur

You observe the distinctive king penguins, elephant seals, and Antarctic fur seals that inhabit South Georgia's sub-Antarctic shores. You find that no permanent human residents live on South Georgia, so domestic pets are absent from the territory. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.

Products of Cayman Islands Day

You know the Cayman Islands as a major financial services hub, though you recognize limited traditional consumer brands originating there; instead you appreciate Cayman Islands sea salt and artisanal local rums like those produced by Barardi's Caribbean operations. You understand that the islands' true brand is their reputation for financial stability and transparent business practices, making them synonymous with offshore banking rather than packaged goods.
