La Navidad liberiana es un día de iglesia, un día de familia y un día de comida. El servicio religioso es a la medianoche del 24, y los cantos son en inglés y en los idiomas locales. La comida navideña incluye arroz jollof, pollo frito, hojas de yuca, hojas de papa y pastel de batata. Los niños reciben regalos, generalmente ropa y zapatos, y los adultos intercambian visitas. National holiday. Catholic families attend morning mass, Muslim families visit neighbors, and everyone eats. The riz gras is extra rich, the chicken is extra big, and the children are extra happy. Burkina celebrates together regardless of faith because a holiday is a holiday and food is food.

Comoros is overwhelmingly Muslim but the French calendar includes Christmas and the small Catholic community on Mayotte observes it. For most Comorians, December 25 is a day off and another reason for a family meal. The children of Mayotte wake up to gifts and the children of Ngazidja wake up to the realization that school is closed and that is gift enough.
