The Temple of Pythons in Ouidah houses dozens of royal pythons that live freely and are never harmed. In Ouidah's Vodun tradition, the python represents wisdom and peace. Visitors can hold one, and if you are nervous, the priest will remind you that the python chose to be here, which somehow makes it feel less terrifying and more sacred.
