The matriarchs of Equatorial Guinea receive their due. The mothers who cook the fufu, run the markets, pay the school fees, and keep the family together while the men are at the bar drinking malamba. The day is observed with church, with food, and with the specific reverence that Equatoguinean society reserves for mothers. Every mother gets a call. Every mother pretends she did not need one.
