Die Kirche wird dunkel. Der Priester erscheint mit dem heiligen Licht. Jede Kerze in jeder Hand wird von einer Flamme entzündet. Das "Christos Anesti" erfüllt die Kirche, dann die Straßen, dann die Nachbarschaft. Feuerwerk geht los, das Fasten wird mit Magiritsa (Ostersuppe) gebrochen, und jeder Zypriot, der 50 Tage lang kein Fleisch gegessen hat, weint vor Freude.
