Día de la Independencia

Uruguay declared independence from Brazil in 1825, though it took a war and Argentine help to make it stick. The military parade goes down Avenida 18 de Julio. The president gives a speech. Every balcony has a Uruguayan flag : light blue and white stripes with a sun that has a face, because the Uruguayan sun is not abstract. It is a specific sun with 16 alternating straight and wavy rays and it looks surprised to be on a flag.
