DNA Day

Commemorates the discovery of DNA's double helix (1953) and the completion of the Human Genome Project (2003). In biology classrooms across the country, students extract DNA from strawberries using dish soap and rubbing alcohol. The strawberry experiment is the most reliable demonstration in science education because it always works and it looks like snot, which means teenagers pay attention.
