In Mexican-American communities, this is Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. They visit cemeteries, clean the graves, and spend the night telling stories about the people they have lost. The tradition is not morbid. It is the opposite: the dead are not gone. They are here, and they are hungry, and you made their favorite mole, so they will be pleased.
