General Pulaski Memorial Day

Casimir Pulaski was a Polish nobleman who came to America to fight in the Revolution. He saved George Washington's life at the Battle of Brandywine. He founded the American cavalry. He died at the Battle of Savannah at age 31. In Chicago, which has the largest Polish population outside of Warsaw, Pulaski Day is a school holiday. In Savannah, they hold a memorial ceremony.
