Albert Einstein's Birthday

In Princeton, New Jersey, they celebrate both Pi Day and Einstein's birthday simultaneously. Princeton was Einstein's home from 1933 until his death in 1955. He would walk from his house on Mercer Street to the Institute for Advanced Study. You can still walk that route. It takes 20 minutes. Einstein presumably thought about the universe the whole way.

Pi Day

March 14th (3/14) is celebrated with pie. In Princeton, New Jersey, they combine it with Einstein's birthday (Einstein lived in Princeton). The town runs pie-eating contests, pie-throwing events, and an Einstein look-alike contest. MIT releases its admissions decisions at 6:28 PM (tau time, which is 2pi). This is the nerdiest holiday in America and nobody is ashamed.
