Swallows Depart Capistrano

Every year, cliff swallows return to Mission San Juan Capistrano on March 19th and depart around October 23rd. The return is celebrated with a festival. The departure is less celebrated because it means winter is coming. The swallows fly 6,000 miles to Goya, Argentina, and back. They are more reliable than the groundhog.
