In Crystal City, Texas, the self-proclaimed Spinach Capital of the World, they have a statue of Popeye and a spinach festival. During WWII, Crystal City canned so much spinach for the troops that the town's economy boomed. The spinach industry has since declined, but the Popeye statue remains, holding a can of spinach with the confidence of a man who knows his forearms are enormous.
