Archbishop Janani Luwum Day
The anniversary of the 1977 murder of Archbishop Janani Luwum by the Idi Amin regime. Luwum was the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, and he was killed for speaking out against the atrocities of the Amin regime. AHA! moment: Luwum's last sermon included the words: "I am ready to die for the truth." Three days later, he was dead. The official story was that he died in a car accident. The truth was that he was shot and his body was placed in a car to make it look like an accident. His body had bullet wounds. Amin forced 20,000 people to attend a rally and claim Luwum had died in a crash. Nobody believed it.
