Saba Saba : Market Day

The anniversary of the 1954 founding of the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) in Tanzania, but in Uganda, the day is also celebrated as a market day and a day of commerce. AHA! moment: Uganda is one of the most entrepreneurial countries in Africa. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor ranked Uganda as the most entrepreneurial country in the world in 2015 : 28% of Ugandans own a business. The irony? Most of these businesses are survival businesses (selling tomatoes, running a boda boda, making rolexes), not growth businesses. Uganda is a nation of entrepreneurs by necessity, not by choice.
