Harmattan Gbe

The Harmattan wind blows from the Sahara across Togo from November to March, carrying dust, dropping humidity to bone-dry levels, and coating everything in a fine layer of red powder. Skin cracks, lips chap, and the sky turns a permanent haze. But the Harmattan also brings relief from the humidity, cool nights, and the perfect conditions for drying fish, smoking meat, and preserving the harvest. Togo has two seasons: wet and dry. The Harmattan is the dry season's signature, and you can taste it on your tongue.

Animals of Madagascar Day

You marvel at Madagascar's unique lemurs, fossas, and tenrecs that exist nowhere else on Earth due to the island's isolated evolution. You notice that Malagasy families commonly keep dogs, cats, and zebu cattle as their primary domestic animals. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.
