Siku ya Watoto wa Afrika

Commemorates the 1976 Soweto uprising. In Tanzania, the day carries extra weight because Nyerere offered asylum to South African exiles and supported the ANC when few other leaders would. The AHA: Dar es Salaam's university hosted an entire generation of southern African liberation thinkers, and some of the ANC's most important strategy meetings happened in a city whose name means "Haven of Peace."

Animals of Tokelau Day

You discover Tokelau's marine-focused fauna with tropical fish, sea turtles, seabirds including frigatebirds and boobies, and coconut crabs inhabiting the atoll environment. You learn that Tokelauan families keep dogs, cats, and chickens as their primary pets and food sources. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.
