"Eight eight" : the 8th of the 8th month. The agricultural fair that celebrates the 80% of Tanzanians who are farmers. The AHA: at the Nane Nane grounds in Dodoma, you can see the entire Tanzanian economy in miniature : cotton from Shinyanga, cashew nuts from Mtwara, coffee from Kilimanjaro, tea from Iringa, and a guy selling phone credit outside the gate because even farmers need to call their buyers. Agriculture is the backbone, and the fair is the spine.
