The ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi celebrates its revolutionary roots. Love it or hate it, CCM has ruled Tanzania since 1977 (and its predecessor TANU since 1961), making it one of the longest-ruling parties in the world. The AHA: Tanzania has never had a coup, a civil war, or a dictatorship in the conventional sense.
