Festival of the Cross

The Syrian Christian community celebrates the Exaltation of the Cross with processions, liturgies, and the lighting of bonfires on the hilltops. In the Wadi al-Nasara (Valley of the Christians), the bonfires are visible for miles, and the villages celebrate with dancing (dabkeh), food, and the traditional cross-shaped bread (ka'ak al-salib). The festival is especially important in Saidnaya and Maaloula, where the Christian communities are among the oldest in the world.

Animals of Seychelles Day

You see that dogs, cats, and tropical fish are commonly kept as pets among residents of these Indian Ocean islands. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.
