Dia de la Independencia
Argentina declared independence in Tucuman in 1816, and the Casa Historica stands there still. Families gather for locro, empanadas, and pastelitos, the fried pastry with sweet potato that appears on every independence table. The asado runs all afternoon and someone always plays folklore on guitar.
