In rural Spain, horses and livestock are blessed in church ceremonies that date to the Middle Ages. In Barcelona's Carrer dels Flassaders, pets are brought to the church of Sant Antoni for blessing, and the queues of dogs, cats, and the occasional parrot stretch around the block.
