Dia de Reyes

Kids leave their shoes out the night before and wake up hoping for a gift from the Reyes Magos. The panaderias sell roscon de reyes, the ring-shaped sweet bread with a plastic baby hidden inside. Whoever finds the baby hosts the next gathering, though everyone forgets by February.

Reyes Magos

On the morning of January 6, children wake to find gifts left by the Three Kings, who traveled from the East on camels. The night before, families fill shoe boxes with hay and water for the camels and leave them on windowsills. In some towns, the kings arrive by helicopter, and in Alcoy, they arrive by boat and are accompanied by royal pages who collect gift requests from children.
