Somali Flag Day

The Somali flag is a single white five-pointed star on a light blue field. The blue represents the sky and the Indian Ocean. The star represents the five Somali-majority regions: British Somaliland, Italian Somaliland, French Somaliland (Djibouti), the Ogaden (Ethiopia), and the Northern Frontier District (Kenya). The AHA! moment: the star has five points, but only two of those regions ever became part of Somalia. The other three are still claimed by the flag, which means the flag is both a symbol of unity and a symbol of an unfinished project.

Animals of Samoa Day

You encounter Samoan flying foxes, Pacific pigeons, and endemic Samoan parrots as the most iconic wildlife native to Samoa. You see that dogs, cats, chickens, and pigs are commonly kept as pets by Samoan families and farmers. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.
