The White Sunday is the day honoring children, and it is the most important holiday in Samoa after Independence Day. AHA!: On White Sunday, the entire social hierarchy flips. Children dress in pure white, perform in church (singing, dancing, reciting Bible verses), and are served a feast by the adults. For one day, the adults wait on the children. For one day, the children are the chiefs. For one day, the least powerful people in Samoan society are treated like royalty : because in Fa'a Samoa, children are considered the closest to God. Every child receives a new white outfit, a gift, and a feast.
