Earth Day Qatar
Observed with beach cleanups along the Corniche and at Khor Al Udeid (the Inland Sea), and environmental exhibitions at the Qatar National Convention Centre. Qatar's environmental challenges include desertification, water scarcity, and the ecological footprint of rapid urbanization. The Al Reem Biosphere Reserve and the Al Thakira mangroves are highlighted as conservation successes. Schools organize field trips to the mangroves, where children kayak through channels sheltering flamingos and dugongs.
