An annual open day at the Souq Waqif Falcon Hospital, one of the most advanced avian veterinary facilities in the world. The hospital treats over 6,000 falcons per year and offers endoscopy, feather transplantation, and even CT scans. On open day, visitors can watch falcon health check-ups, learn about the training of hunting falcons, and see the traditional hood (burqa) and leash (subuq) used in falconry. The Souq Waqif Falcon Souq, adjacent to the hospital, is a market where falcons are bought, sold, and traded, with prices ranging from a few thousand to over a million dollars. Falcons hold a unique legal status in Qatar: they are the only animals permitted to travel in the cabin of Qatar Airways flights, with their own passport issued by the Ministry of Environment.
