Halo-Halo

Halo-halo is the most popular dessert in the Philippines, and the name means "mix-mix" in Filipino. The dessert is a mixture of shaved ice, evaporated milk, and a variety of ingredients including sweet beans, coconut, sago, leche flan, ube (purple yam), and jackfruit. The ingredients are layered in a tall glass, and the tradition is to mix everything together before eating. The halo-halo is the perfect dessert for the tropical heat, and it is sold in every restaurant, every canteen, and every street corner during the summer months. The best halo-halo is said to be from Chowking, but every Filipino has a favorite halo-halo place.
