Sinulog

The biggest and most famous festival in the Philippines, held in Cebu City. The Sinulog celebrates the Santo Nino (the Holy Child Jesus) and commemorates the Filipino people's acceptance of Christianity. The festival features a grand procession, a street dance competition with dancers in bright costumes, and the tradition of shouting "Pit Senyor!" The Sinulog dance is a two-step forward, one-step-back movement that mimics the current of the river (sulog in Cebuano). Dancers carry candles and sway to the beat of drums. The festival attracts over 3 million people and has been celebrated since the 1500s.

Products of Caribbean Netherlands Day

You recognize that Caribbean Netherlands (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba) produces distinctive sea salt from Bonaire's solar salt ponds and locally-crafted goods, with limited mass-market brands originating from these islands. You know that these islands are better known as sources of Caribbean agricultural products and tourism experiences than as origins of global consumer brands.
