Bonfire Night
Not a Nigerian holiday, but observed by the British expatriate community in Lagos and Abuja. The bonfires are lit on the beach, the fireworks are set off, and the tradition is to eat sausages, baked potatoes, and parkin (a ginger cake). The Nigerian version of Bonfire Night features suya instead of sausages, and the fireworks are supplemented by the local tradition of knocking (the banging of pots and pans).
