Regional/Cultural Day
Tweede Kerstdag
The second day of Christmas is a public holiday in the Netherlands, and the tradition is to spend the day with family or friends. The Tweede Kerstdag is a day of relaxation, and the Dutch often go for a walk on the beach, visit a museum, or attend a concert. The tradition of two days of Christmas is unique to the Netherlands and a few other European countries, and the Tweede Kerstdag is a day of no obligations: no shopping, no working, no cooking. The Dutch often eat leftovers from the Christmas dinner, and the tradition is to stay in your pyjamas as long as possible.
