The anniversary of the 1941 execution of four martyrs who fought against the Rana regime, the hereditary prime ministers who ruled Nepal from 1846 to 1951. Ceremonies are held at the Martyrs' Gate (Shahid Gate) in Kathmandu, and the names of the martyrs are read aloud in schools and public gatherings. The day serves as both celebration and remembrance, a reminder that democracy was won with blood. Political leaders lay wreaths at the monument, and students recite poems about sacrifice and freedom. The Rana regime fell in 1951 after a century of autocratic rule.
