Angam Day (First)

In 1932, the Nauruan population hit 1,500 : the number elders had calculated was the minimum for the race's survival. The population had collapsed to 1,068 after disease and colonial exploitation. When a baby girl named Eidagaruwo pushed the number past 1,500, the island celebrated like it had won a war. In a sense, it had. The word "angam" means "celebration" and "homecoming" : both at once.

You spot musk oxen, Arctic foxes, polar bears, and ringed seals in Greenland's Arctic tundra and coastal waters. You find that Greenlandic families keep sled dogs (particularly the Greenland dog breed), hunting dogs, and occasionally sheep and arctic foxes.
