Regional/Cultural Day

Caprivistrip Dag

A day celebrating the Caprivi Strip, now officially called the Zambezi Region, a narrow panhandle of land extending eastward between Angola, Botswana, and Zambia. The region is entirely different from the rest of Namibia, with lush wetlands, riverine forests, and abundant wildlife. The Zambezi and Kwando rivers create floodplains that support hippos, crocodiles, and over 400 species of birds. The stilt houses of the Zambezi, built to survive seasonal flooding, are a unique architectural tradition of the Lozi and Subia people.
