Namibwoestyndag

A day celebrating the Namib Desert, the oldest desert on earth at approximately 55 million years. Events include guided desert walks, photography exhibitions of the dune landscapes, and lectures on desert ecology. The Namib stretches 2,000 kilometers along the Atlantic coast and is home to species found nowhere else, including the fog-drinking beetle and the desert-adapted golden mole.

Animals of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha Day

You encounter Saint Helena giant tortoises, wirebirds, and endemic seabirds on these remote Atlantic islands. You notice that islanders commonly keep dogs, cats, and donkeys as their primary pets and working animals. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.
