A day celebrating the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in Africa after the Ver Gorge and one of the largest in the world. The canyon is 160 kilometers long, up to 27 kilometers wide, and 550 meters deep, carved over 500 million years by the Fish River. The famous Fish River Canyon hiking trail covers 85 kilometers over four to five days through harsh terrain with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius. The canyon is located in the southern Karas Region and is one of Namibia's most spectacular natural wonders.
