World Calendar Day

Dia de la Mujer

National holiday since 2024. The marches through Santiago are among the largest in Latin America, filling the Alameda from La Moneda to Baquedano with green scarves and fierce conviction. Chilean feminism has its own voice and it does not ask permission.

Regional/Cultural Day

Dia da Mulher

The day is observed with events organized by the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, and the demands include equal rights, an end to gender-based violence, and the recognition of women's contributions to the economy. Mozambique has one of the highest rates of child marriage in Africa (48% of girls are married before 18), and the day is both celebration and demand. Women march through the streets of Maputo wearing capulanas in the colors of the Mozambican flag, and the speeches call for land rights, education, and an end to domestic violence. The day is also a celebration of the women who fought in the liberation struggle.
