Tunhalin Odor

The anniversary of the declaration of Mongolian independence from the Qing Dynasty on November 26, 1911. The day is observed with a military parade, the president's address, and the flying of the Mongolian flag (red, blue, and the Soyombo symbol). The day is both celebration and reflection, because the independence was short-lived (Mongolia became a Soviet satellite in 1924), and the true independence was not achieved until 1990. The Soyombo symbol on the flag represents the elements of the Mongolian worldview: fire (growth), sun (prosperity), moon (peace), triangles (defeat of enemies), rectangles (justice), and the two fish (vigilance).
