Yalaltiin Odor

The anniversary of the end of World War II, and the day is observed with ceremonies at the Victory Monument in Ulaanbaatar. The veterans march in their uniforms, and the younger generation brings flowers. The day is both celebration and remembrance, and the reminder that Mongolia lost over 3,000 soldiers in the war (Mongolia fought on the Soviet side against Japan). The Zaisan Memorial on the hill south of Ulaanbaatar offers a panoramic view of the city and a mural depicting the friendship between Mongolia and the Soviet Union.
