The Mongolian military has a 2,000-year history, and the day is a reminder that the Mongol cavalry was the most feared fighting force in the medieval world. The soldiers demonstrate the traditional Mongol tactics: the feigned retreat, the encirclement, and the horse archer volley. The day is both celebration and remembrance, and the soldiers lay wreaths at the monument to the unknown soldier.
