World Calendar Day

Dia de la Mujer

National holiday since 2024. The marches through Santiago are among the largest in Latin America, filling the Alameda from La Moneda to Baquedano with green scarves and fierce conviction. Chilean feminism has its own voice and it does not ask permission.

Regional/Cultural Day

Ziua Femeii

The day is observed with flowers, chocolates, and the tradition of giving every woman in your life a flower. The flower sellers are on every street corner, and the most popular flower is the mimosa (a symbol of spring and femininity). The day is both celebration and demand, and the signs say: "Equal pay for equal work" and "End domestic violence." The tradition of giving mimosas dates to the Soviet era, and the flower has become the symbol of the holiday. Every office, every school, and every home has a bouquet of yellow mimosa on this day.
