The day commemorates the adoption of the current Moldovan flag in 1990. The flag is blue, yellow, and red (the same colors as the Romanian flag), with the coat of arms of Moldova in the center (an eagle holding a cross in its beak and an olive branch and a scepter in its talons, with a shield on its chest showing an aurochs head between a rose, a crescent, and a five-pointed star).
