Regional/Cultural Day

Ran Annim Patpat

Commemorates the adoption of the FSM Constitution in 1979. The constitution established Micronesia as a federation of four states: Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae, each with its own language, culture, and traditions, united under a single flag. The AHA! moment: the FSM is a nation of 607 islands spread across 1 million square miles of ocean, with a total land area of only 270 square miles. The distance from Yap to Kosrae is over 1,700 miles, which is roughly the distance from New York to Denver. The country is more ocean than land.
