World Generations Week

Take stock of your family. This is the week you speak to the eldest members to record their history, discuss their childhood, learn their experiences, record their voice for future generations. And if you are fortunate to be a family elder, this is the week you open your heart and mind to preserve your history.

La Temporada de Cempasuchil

The cempasuchil (marigold) is the flower of the dead, and its season begins in October when the markets fill with mountains of orange and yellow flowers that will cover every ofrenda and every grave in the country. The smell of the cempasuchil is the smell of Dia de Muertos, and the sight of the marigold path (the path of flowers that guides the dead home) is one of the most beautiful images in Mexican culture. The cempasuchil is not just a flower, it is a bridge between the living and the dead, and its fragrance is the call that says "come home."
