Maha Navami

The ninth day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga, and it is the most important day of the festival. The celebration includes the Ayudha Puja (the worship of tools and implements), and the devotees place their tools, books, and vehicles before the goddess for blessing. The day is also the occasion for the Kanya Puja (the worship of nine young girls), and the girls are invited to the house and fed with puri, halwa, and chana. The Maha Navami is observed by every Hindu family in Mauritius, and the temples are crowded with worshippers. . 2026: Sep 22. 2027: Oct 11.
