Ganga Snan

The ritual bath at Grand Bassin (Ganga Talao) is performed during Maha Shivaratri, and it is believed to cleanse the soul of all sins. The pilgrims walk barefoot for days, sleeping in makeshift tents along the road, and the final ritual is the immersion in the sacred lake. The water of Grand Bassin is believed to be connected to the Ganges by a spiritual link, and the bath is the most important ritual of the pilgrimage. The temples around the lake are decorated with flowers and lights, and the atmosphere is one of deep devotion. . 2026: Feb 15. 2027: Mar 5.
