Dia del Amor y la Amistad

Colombians celebrate this on the third Saturday of September in some regions, but February 14 still brings roses, serenatas, and the aggressive marketing of every restaurant in the Zona Rosa. The real Colombian love language is bringing someone a tinto when they didn't ask for one.

Jum ta' San Valentin

The day of love is celebrated in Malta with flowers, chocolates, and romantic dinners in the restaurants of Valletta and Sliema. The Maltese are romantic, and the restaurants are fully booked on Valentine's Day. The tradition of courtship in Malta goes back centuries, and the Maltese language has its own love poetry, known as "ghana," which is sung in the streets and in the fields. The ghana is a form of improvised singing, and the love songs are called "ghana tal-giddem" (love ghana), where two singers compete to express their love in the most poetic way.
